About Us
We started Adventure Geology Tours to share our love of geology and travel with you. When you choose Adventure Geology Tours, we take you to all the famous “selfie spots” that you’ve seen on social media, but unlike your friends who visited, you will walk away with a deeper appreciation of nature through the geologically-focused lectures and daily interpretations.
Additionally, our tours offer many more active experiences than the big-box competitors. Our locations can take you to volcanoes, hot springs, fumaroles, waterfalls, beaches, rain forests, and more. Plus, as an added bonus, the charismatic company owners are a heck of a lot of fun! “Active exploration with enthusiastic geologists” is our company mantra. Consider joining our trips as a solo-traveler, couple, family, or group and let’s learn some geology!

It was their love of glacial landscapes that motivated Dr. Tamie Jovanelly, a geologist, professor, international researcher, and author, along with her husband, Joe Cook, an adventurist, to build a trip that focused on geological landscapes that are inescapable, breath taking, and even more fascinating when their origin is explained.
Bring your curiosity, sense of adventure, and eagerness to learn.

Travel with a Researcher
What makes our tours so unique? As a geologist, Dr. Tamie J. Jovanelly, has been exploring the geological complexities of Nordic regions for almost two decades. The recently published monograph, “Iceland: Tectonics, Volcanics, and Glacial Features” (Wiley, 2020) is an example of her commitment to researching northern latitudes. Additionally, she was one of 33 scientists on a research expedition to the International Territories of Svlbard whereby studying climate change, general geology, and water quality issues. She is a Geological Society of America Fellow (2021).
